It amazes me how authors like Kristan Higgins, can string words together and create a world full of excitement and laughter, then blend in the realities of life, with drama, concern and sorrow, yet filled with so much pure love, and others so superficial. How in a matter of 8-11 hrs, you can be whisked away into the character’s lives, which can span from days to weeks or months, even years, making you feel a part of their journey, laughing one minute, then crying the next.
Every time I finish a book by Kristan Higgins, it just lightens my heart. I’m engaged and find myself thinking of things to say to the characters, rooting for them during hard times, as if they were real.
In If You Only Knew I loved the bond between sisters Rachel and Jenny, so much love and solidarity, during the good and bad times. And Leo, how I loved his wit, charm and personality, especially when he banters with Jenny. But, he also has a lot of ache in is heart to heal, as do the sisters, even Rachel’s husband, Adam. It’s a complicated situation they’re all in, but I’m happy to say Miss Higgins concludes the story in a satisfying way.
Secondary characters such as Andreas, and Triplets Grace, Rose and Charlotte definitely add much laughter and joy, while other personalities will have you sticking up for your favorites. Topics such as divorce and infidelity are part of the story, as well as new beginnings.
Reading books by Kristan Higgins is an experience, not just a story. If You Only Knew is no exception. Her books will make you laugh, cry and sigh and hopefully feel satisfied in the end.
I highly recommend you read anything written by Kristan Higgins, even her blog posts and articles. She’s funny, kind, generous and LOVES her readers! She replies to all her fans personally. Seriously!
