1. What genre(s) do you write?
I write contemporary romances that are warm and community-based. There’s lots of laughter in them. They’ve all had Southern settings, and my latest series in based in Charleston, SC, my hometown. I used to write rollicking Regencies, and I still love reading historicals, but I like sticking to modern times with my writing because I’m so moved by the world right now, and I have a lot to say–mainly that I honestly think that love changes everything. Women seem so in touch with that concept, and they struggle to make it happen, even when they are overburdened and witness pain or experience it every day. I write romances for them, to affirm that positive, brave worldview.
2. Coffee or tea lover?
Tea! I drink PG Tips all day long with lots of milk. And I have to have a good cookie with it at least most of the time. “Good cookie” to me means McVitties dark chocolate-covered “digestibles,” in the international aisle at your grocery store! I can get by with a ginger snap, too. Keep me away from my own homemade chocolate chip cookies and brownies!
3. Name one thing on your bucket list.
To go to Paris!
4. Do you have pets?
Striker is my 11-year-old Lab mix, an SPCA darling—we got him when he was six weeks old. Benny and Joon are my brother-sister gray tabby cats that I rescued when they were four months old. They are now eight and my little fur bunnies who can’t keep away from me. All three are my absolute sweethearts and my favorite writing companions!!!
5. When I wake up every morning I… immediately eat one square of Ghirardelli’s Sea Salt Soiree dark chocolate. Without fail. Ssssh, don’t tell anyone that sometimes I eat two! Ha ha!
6. Weirdest or unique thing you own.
I have a lovely tea menu from my trans-Atlantic trip on the QE2, the ultimate luxury liner (well, if you don’t include the Titanic!!!). The Queen Elizabeth II went out of service shortly after my cruise, so I feel so grateful that I got to experience such an amazing ship! Little did I know that at that time my own future husband was on a ship in the Atlantic, too—but he was in the U.S. Navy and he was sleeping in a cramped bunk and was not drinking a lot of champagne, the way I was!
7. Do you have any hobbies or particular skills?
I love karaoke! And I love to make small crafts. It’s cozy. It reminds me to stay simple. And I’m a homebody. I’d much rather sit at the table and glue, paint, and watch bad TV than go out on the town all fancied up and on my best behavior! I also love to arrange flowers, but I keep it simple there, too. I’m a big fan of mason jar arrangements or occasionally a Downton Abbey style arrangement in a low epergne on my dining room table. ☺
8. What do you hope readers will experience or gain when reading your stories?
I write so that women like me, who lead complicated, full lives, will get a few minutes to themselves to relax and restore. We all need that. We are the caregivers of the world in so many ways, and we deserve TLC, which I hope my books provide.
Meet Kieran Kramer
Kieran Kramer, USA Today bestselling author and double Rita finalist, has written eleven historical romances and contemporaries for St. Martin’s Press. She’s currently writing a Charleston-based contemporary matchmakers series: the first book, Christmas at Two Love Lane, is on shelves now. Wedding at Two Love Lane comes out in January 2018. Second Chance at Two Love Lane arrives in October 2018. Kieran was born in Washington, D.C. to an Air Force pilot father and actress/singer mother. She grew up mainly on Johns Island, a rural sea island near Charleston, South Carolina, where she helped build her family’s log home. Over the years she’s worked as a high school English teacher and journalist for The Charlotte Observer, but most of the time, she was a stay-at-home mom to three children. She and her naval officer husband Chuck are now empty nesters in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. Fun fact: she was chosen in local auditions and won on both Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud. She’s also run with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain!
Christmas at Two Love Lane
The best gift of all is the one you share with someone else. . .
From the moment he strode through the iron gate and into the offices of Two Love Lane on a crisp December day, it was obvious that Deacon Banks was something different. He wasn’t a Charleston native, not with that adorable Yankee accent. And unlike the usual client at the elegant matchmaking agency, he had no interest in finding a woman to marry—just a few no-strings dates while he was in town.
Macy Frost takes her professional services very seriously—how could she not, when she’s rumored to be a direct descendant of Cupid? Tech entrepreneur Deacon says he’s just trying to make his social-climbing aunt happy by being seen out and about with a few prominent beauties, but Macy insists she can make her client fall in love…for real. And Deacon can’t help but think she might be right. As charming as the palmetto trees and magnificent harbor may be, it’s the beautiful, breath-of-fresh-air Macy who’s become Deacon’s favorite part of the scenery. But can the hopelessly romantic Southern belle stop trying to fix him up and just let Cupid do his work on her own heart?
Winners are Jessica C, Susan G, and Linda May!
Kieran will give away three print copies of CHRISTMAS at TWO LOVE LANE to three (3) lucky commenters to be mailed anywhere in the U.S. along with her Kieran Kramer pink pen that says, “Read. Write. Repeat.” Kieran says: “I want all my readers to experience the joys of writing, too, whether they write in a journal, a calendar, a letter to a friend, or their own stories!!!”
To enter, simply ask Kieran a question based on her Q&A responses or about her books.
Giveaway ends on 11/5/17.
