Author Spotlight & Giveaway: Kieran Kramer!

*Giveaway!* Easy Entry! U.S. only~Ends 11/5/17
Today’s featured author is the delightful Kieran Kramer! Learn some fun facts about Kieran in this short Q&A, then ask her a question based on her responses and 3 lucky commenters will have a chance to win Christmas at Two Love Lane!

1. What genre(s) do you write?

I write contemporary romances that are warm and community-based. There’s lots of laughter in them. They’ve all had Southern settings, and my latest series in based in Charleston, SC, my hometown. I used to write rollicking Regencies, and I still love reading historicals, but I like sticking to modern times with my writing because I’m so moved by the world right now, and I have a lot to say–mainly that I honestly think that love changes everything. Women seem so in touch with that concept, and they struggle to make it happen, even when they are overburdened and witness pain or experience it every day. I write romances for them, to affirm that positive, brave worldview.

2. Coffee or tea lover?

Tea! I drink PG Tips all day long with lots of milk. And I have to have a good cookie with it at least most of the time. “Good cookie” to me means McVitties dark chocolate-covered “digestibles,” in the international aisle at your grocery store! I can get by with a ginger snap, too. Keep me away from my own homemade chocolate chip cookies and brownies!

3. Name one thing on your bucket list.

To go to Paris!

4. Do you have pets?

Striker is my 11-year-old Lab mix, an SPCA darling—we got him when he was six weeks old. Benny and Joon are my brother-sister gray tabby cats that I rescued when they were four months old. They are now eight and my little fur bunnies who can’t keep away from me. All three are my absolute sweethearts and my favorite writing companions!!!

5. When I wake up every morning I… immediately eat one square of Ghirardelli’s Sea Salt Soiree dark chocolate. Without fail. Ssssh, don’t tell anyone that sometimes I eat two! Ha ha!

6. Weirdest or unique thing you own.

I have a lovely tea menu from my trans-Atlantic trip on the QE2, the ultimate luxury liner (well, if you don’t include the Titanic!!!). The Queen Elizabeth II went out of service shortly after my cruise, so I feel so grateful that I got to experience such an amazing ship! Little did I know that at that time my own future husband was on a ship in the Atlantic, too—but he was in the U.S. Navy and he was sleeping in a cramped bunk and was not drinking a lot of champagne, the way I was!

7. Do you have any hobbies or particular skills?

I love karaoke! And I love to make small crafts. It’s cozy. It reminds me to stay simple. And I’m a homebody. I’d much rather sit at the table and glue, paint, and watch bad TV than go out on the town all fancied up and on my best behavior! I also love to arrange flowers, but I keep it simple there, too. I’m a big fan of mason jar arrangements or occasionally a Downton Abbey style arrangement in a low epergne on my dining room table. ☺

8. What do you hope readers will experience or gain when reading your stories?

I write so that women like me, who lead complicated, full lives, will get a few minutes to themselves to relax and restore. We all need that. We are the caregivers of the world in so many ways, and we deserve TLC, which I hope my books provide.

Kieran Kramer, USA Today bestselling author and double Rita finalist, has written eleven historical romances and contemporaries for St. Martin’s Press. She’s currently writing a Charleston-based contemporary matchmakers series: the first book, Christmas at Two Love Lane, is on shelves now. Wedding at Two Love Lane comes out in January 2018. Second Chance at Two Love Lane arrives in October 2018. Kieran was born in Washington, D.C. to an Air Force pilot father and actress/singer mother. She grew up mainly on Johns Island, a rural sea island near Charleston, South Carolina, where she helped build her family’s log home. Over the years she’s worked as a high school English teacher and journalist for The Charlotte Observer, but most of the time, she was a stay-at-home mom to three children. She and her naval officer husband Chuck are now empty nesters in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. Fun fact: she was chosen in local auditions and won on both Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud. She’s also run with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain!

The best gift of all is the one you share with someone else. . .

From the moment he strode through the iron gate and into the offices of Two Love Lane on a crisp December day, it was obvious that Deacon Banks was something different. He wasn’t a Charleston native, not with that adorable Yankee accent. And unlike the usual client at the elegant matchmaking agency, he had no interest in finding a woman to marry—just a few no-strings dates while he was in town.

Macy Frost takes her professional services very seriously—how could she not, when she’s rumored to be a direct descendant of Cupid? Tech entrepreneur Deacon says he’s just trying to make his social-climbing aunt happy by being seen out and about with a few prominent beauties, but Macy insists she can make her client fall in love…for real. And Deacon can’t help but think she might be right. As charming as the palmetto trees and magnificent harbor may be, it’s the beautiful, breath-of-fresh-air Macy who’s become Deacon’s favorite part of the scenery. But can the hopelessly romantic Southern belle stop trying to fix him up and just let Cupid do his work on her own heart?

    1. Alana!!! You shouldn’t have asked, haha!!! I have too many favorites!!! LOL!!! Okay, probably my go-to song is Kiss Me by Sixpence None the Richer. 1. Trans Atlantic cruise!? Wow!! What an experience! But you have not been to Paris? haha I hope you get to go there soon. What a fun thing to add about you both being out there. Please thank your husband for his service. And thanks for answering the fun questions. Loved your answers.

    1. The cruise was from NYC to Southampton. Then I took a train up to Scotland to visit old friends. Before this cruise, I lived in the UK for a year and never got to France (this was before the Chunnel, and I was a very poor college student). I was also madly in love with a Scotsman at the time and we traveled all over Scotland together. So I didn’t miss Paris. Now I have a new goal–to get there!! Haha!! As well as Normandy and the south of France. Thanks for participating today!!!

  2. Are you ever going to go back to writing historical romances (like the Impossible Bachelors) or do you prefer to write the contemporary romances?
Good luck with the rest of grad school!

    1. Laura, I’d love to go back to historicals, but right now I am so immersed in contemporary and my grad school requirements. When grad school finishes, I’ll have way more time to write ALL the books I want to write!!!

    1. Linda, it’s my pleasure to give away books to romance fans. Without you, I wouldn’t have anyone to read my stories, and I’m so grateful. XOXO

  3. I’m heading to a Halloween party, where I’m going to be Joyce from STRANGER THINGS and my husband is going to be the alphabet wall complete with lit up Christmas bulbs (haha!! if you know the show, you’ll get it), so I hate to leave, but I promise on Saturday I’ll write back anyone who visits tonight!!! Have a safe and fun Halloween weekend, everyone, and thank you, Lorelei!!! It’s been so nice to meet your reader friends. 🙂

  4. I was in Paris two weeks ago and my hubby took the QEII back in 1970 when he went to graduate school in Belgium. Where do you get your ideas for your books?

    1. Wow!! Lucky you!!! 🇫🇷 And that’s so great about your husband, too. 🚢 As for my book ideas, they just come to me. I’ll be sitting there or lying in bed and voila! This idea happens! If I can’t shake it, I write a book about it. 😃

  5. Karaoke…I love it, too! Good…bad…doesn’t matter because I swear everyone who is there is in it together, and all everyone wants to do is have fun! 🙂

    1. You know, when I feel sorry for myself for never having seen Paris, I think about all the people in the world who can’t even leave their neighborhoods and yet live full lives. So while I have wonderful daydreams about Paris, I try to make my life at home my best life. Know what I mean? A good cup of tea and a great book (and chocolate) go far to making me super happy!!!

      1. I think the same. I can’t possibly visit every place I’d love to see, but as long as we live happy moments that are important to each and every one of us, that’s what counts. Paris is on my list, too. We’ll see.

  6. Love your books Kieran. And thanks for the Q&A session. I have a 2 part question. What are PT tips? I haven’t heard of that tea. And do you partake of your local tea plantations products?
    I personally love their tea.

    1. Hi! PG Tips is a brand of tea that’s really popular in the UK. I can get it at my local Publix. They make a decaf that doesn’t taste bad…most decaf teas I can’t abide!! And yes, I DO love our local tea plantation at Wadmalaw Island and buy their teas!!! I’m glad you know about it!! 🙂
