It was a fascinating evening at the Alafaya Library on April 12th, 2017. The Love Across Sub-Genres event was more like Love Across the world, with guest authors originally from North Carolina ~Elicia Hyder, Cuba~Maria Geraci, Author, (now a long time Floridian) and even Australia~Lucy Rhodes! Attendees were captivated and impressed by each author’s personal experiences, and corresponding sub-genres: small town contemporary to paranormal.
It was also like Animal Kingdom for our special guest author Lucy Rhodes, visiting all the way from the land down under, who saw for the first time a raccoon and opossum that would appear in the background behind the glass wall! Aspiring writers also received great advice on writing. Many happy Giveaway winners, yet everyone left with prizes gifted by the authors.

Today’s featured author is the lovely Maria Geraci! Learn some fun facts about Maria in this short Q&A, which you’ll find some answers were quite interesting. Leave a comment on the blog for a chance to win!
1. What genres do you write?
I write contemporary romance and humorous women’s fiction. I’m also in the process of plotting a romantic cozy mystery series spin off from my Whispering Bay romances that I’m very excited about.
2. Coffee or tea lover?
Coffee. Although I do love ice-tea.
3. Name one thing on your bucket list.
An Alaskan cruise with the hubby and all my kids. It will happen soon!
4. Do you have pets?
Oh, yes! I have a 15 year-old cat named Lizzy (very snooty!) and two little dogs—a dachshund we’ve had since she was a puppy named Truffles and a Chihuahua mix who was a rescue dog named Darwin. During last year’s presidential election, we temporarily renamed Truffles “Hilary” and Darwin “Trump” because their personalities matched them so perfectly!
5. When I wake up every morning I …check my computer to see if anything good has happened over night. Seriously, the first thing I look at is my email. If you write to me, I’ll always answer (and you’ll have totally made my day!).
6. Weirdest or unique thing you own.
Okay, don’t judge me. I still have all my kid’s baby teeth in a little bag. I just can’t get rid of them but my husband says it’s creepy!
7. Do you have any hobbies or particular skills?
Writing pretty much takes up all my time, but I do love spending free time with my dogs. I also love checking out old Florida locales, like Weeki Wachee, places, like that. Oh, and I’m a sucker for old movies.
8. What do you hope readers will experience or gain when reading your stories?
Years ago I went to a Colbie Caillat concert (she’s my favorite female singer) and when I left I felt so happy and rejuvenated. That’s the same emotional experience I hope to give my readers. I want them to be uplifted and feel like there’s nothing that love can’t accomplish.
Meet Maria Geraci
Maria Geraci writes contemporary romance and women’s fiction with a happy ending. The Portland Book Review called her novel, The Boyfriend of the Month Club, “immensely sexy, immensely satisfying and humorous.” Her fourth novel, A Girl Like You, was nominated for Romance Writers of America’s prestigious RITA ® award. She is the author of the Whispering Bay romance series, which readers have described as “charming, witty and quirky.” She strives to write the kind of books that readers want to take to the beach but that leaves a smile on their face long after the vacation is over. She currently divides her time living between Tallahassee and Tarpon Springs, Florida where she lives with her husband, two adorably sweet dogs and her not-so-adorable cat. Welcome to the world of Whispering Bay romance, where hot heroes and smart heroines collide to find their happily-ever-afters!
Allie Grant doesn’t believe in second chances. She does, however, believe in the power of a permanent paycheck. So when a tipster reports that the soon-to-be demolished senior center in her hometown is haunted, Allie hightails it to Whispering Bay to get the scoop that could secure her dream job at Florida! magazine. What she finds, though, is far scarier than any ghost. Cue her ex-boyfriend, sexy construction foreman Tom Donalan.
When Tom catches Allie poking around his construction site, he quickly realizes his former high school flame is just as feisty as ever. And, heaven help him, her irresistible, mile-high legs still take his breath away. But Tom isn’t about to delay the building’s demolition because of a silly ghost story.
With neither of the stubborn exes backing down from their opposing positions, sparks fly. And, underneath the surface, the fire of their old attraction burns as hot as ever. When strange things start happening with increasing frequency around town, even a tough skeptic like Tom is tested. The question is, can Allie and Tom stop fighting long enough to get to the bottom of Whispering Bay’s ghost problem—and the more important matter of mending their broken hearts?
